A random fact.
We are traveling this week, so posting will be spotty. My apologies to both of my dedicated fans.
Clara brought me this book last night while we were at her grandmother’s house, and I remembered a fun little factoid about it.
That is, indeed, [amazon text=Dr. Seuss’s ABC&asin=0394800303]. It’s a fun book, and unlike so many of Dr. Seuss’s classic, not so long that your kids lose interest before it’s over. (What? It’s the truth! Have you ever actually read ALL of [amazon text=The Cat in the Hat&asin=039480001X] before your audience started wandering off? It’s not actually geared for preschoolers, contrary to popular opinion.)
Anyway. My point here is simple. This is a good book, a fun book for noticing beginning sounds, and you can sing it! Open it up, and you’ll see: just sing it to the tune of ‘The Alphabet Song’ or ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.’ Those are same, of course, and work perfectly for this book.
If you don’t have a copy sitting around, here’s the first bit of it so you can see that I’m not making this up:
“Big A, Little A, what begins with A?
Aunt Annie’s Alligator, A… A… A.”
See? It works! Now, go sing it to some little people and make them laugh.
